People starving when tons of unsold food is thrown away globally because people couldn’t afford to purchase the food, that’s violence.

People dying and going bankrupt to pay for their healthcare, that’s violence.

People being evicted from their homes when there are more houses than there are houseless people, that’s violence.

This is so important.

Please help send me to New York City:

My name is Jose Correa, I’m 17 years old, and I live in Miami! Right now, I just entered my senior year of high school and it has always been one of my goals to graduate high school, attend an esteemed college, and actually be the first in my family to graduate from any kind of college. I’ve worked hard, founded my own equality club, and even worked a part time job, all throughout my high school career. Just recently, I’ve been presented with a wonderful opportunity to actually go to New York City as part of an educational field trip where trip we would be visiting landmarks like Wall Street and the Federal Reserve. Both my family and I view this as a once in a lifetime opportunity and it would be a dream of mine to go. Not to mention this trip will look amazing on all my college applications.

The only problem is that my family has been going through a financial crisis.

Both of my parents are immigrants and have worked hard ever since they came to America. They’ve been outstanding parents to me and my brothers and have always managed to keep food on the table and put a nice roof over our heads. A few months ago, though, my father was injured leaving him disabled and unable to work. And as a result of said disability, he was let go and forced to retire early leaving my mother to be the sole supporter of the household. Both my brother and I got part-time jobs, him at CVS and me at Coldstone Creamery, to give my mother a fraction of what we made regularly. But last month my brother moved out  and has since stopped giving my mother money. Because of this, I’ve had to give my mother more money just to keep our house up and running while my mother struggles to find another job.

I’ve been making minimum wage and splitting tips with other workers, usually working 30 hours a week. Finding a second job is out of the question for me, though, since I’m a senior in high school and I have school to worry about. After cutting costs with my mother, the money I have left is going into my savings account so that in the future I have a sufficient amount of money to buy a car and for schooling purposes.

Donating any amount of money would be greatly appreciated!

And if you can’t, I would be so thankful if you could please reblog this and spread it around.

Hedy Epstein, a 90-year-old Holocaust survivor was arrested on Monday during unrest in Ferguson Epstein, who aided Allied forces in the Nuremberg trials, was placed under arrest “for failing to disperse.” 8 others were also arrested.
"I’ve been doing this since I was a teenager. I didn’t think I would have to do it when I was ninety," Epstein told The Nation during her arrest. “We need to stand up today so that people won’t have to do this when they’re ninety.” Epstein is currently an activist and a vocal supporter of the Free Gaza Movement.

The cop who shot a dog in front of its 6 year old owner was fired after outrage from the community and a “Justice for Apollo” campaign.

The cop who shot an unarmed black teen is on paid leave and remains protected by his department. So far, days of outrage and protest have still not brought any justice to Mike Brown.

In America, in 2014, the life of a black man is valued less than that of a dog.

Literally.

people literally cannot get out antonio french is telling him to knock on doors if he has to

police/military have placed a physical road blockade, a media blackout, and a nofly zone, over the neighborhood where mike brown was murdered were the only eye witnesses live, at the heart of the protests, under the guise of stopping a “gun battle btwn cops and gangs”. there is nothing come out of canfield right now that i can find, which is absolutely terrifying.
